Things I’m Most Afraid Of
This picture has nothing to do with the post however if we ever do buy another fixer upper house, that will be added to my list of things I am most afraid of (please take a hint husband).
Look at that, I actually am posting the #BlogEveryDayInMay on the day of the topic! Don’t get used to it though…timeliness isn’t really my jam.
Today’s challenge was things you are most afraid of. I think of two types of fears when I think of fears; the ones I can get over (with a little pep talk) and the ones that I am legitimately afraid of. Here goes…
1. Carwashes. Not the kind where you drag out your hose and suds bucket and pop on your bikini top for the neighborhood to see you “wash” your car (like that ever happens), but the kind where you sit in your car while bubbles and monstrous machines that could eat come flapping away at your windshield while you pray to God one doesn’t burst through a window. I haven’t liked carwashes since I was a kid and I hate them to this day. I did discover an amazing carwash place though that is less than 5 miles away from my house where you get out of your car and some greasy guy who calls you “sugar” takes your keys and vacuums out the car, takes it through the wash and cleans the inside windows and dries it off. All you have to do is sit in the little fancy waiting booth and pray to God that he doesn’t drive off. Easy, right?
2. Centipedes. I can handle bugs. I can handle spiders and I will be the first to laugh at someone when they jump up because there is a little 8 legged spider crawling across the room. One thing I CANNOT handle is centipedes though. They have 980257 legs and are the worlds ugliest bug and I just can’t do them. I mean I am the girl who will jump into a strangers lap if I see one. I just…..nope. Can’t do it.
3. People not liking me. This is one of those legitimately afraid of fears. I play it off that I don’t care if you like me but really, I will do anything to get someone to like me. It absolutely breaks my heart and I will try anything to get that person to like me. When I know someone doesn’t care for me or doesn’t like how I am, it’s all I think about and talk about. Oh…and I read way too much into things. If a tone sounds funny from someone, I will analyze for hours if I did something wrong, what I can do to fix it, etc. It can be draining but I want people to be able to come to me and know they have a friend in me.
But seriously though…
What I Do…
Today’s topic for #BlogEveryDayInMay: If you couldn’t answer with your job, how would you answer the question ‘what do you do?’
Hello loaded question. I was hoping I wouldn’t see you. This is the worst question ever. I try to steer away from it every time it’s asked not only because a) I have no idea what to say but b) when it comes to my career, I don’t have a definitive answer like teacher, or firefighter, or photographer. I have an answer that requires a lengthy explanation that usually causes confused stares. But I digress.
Thank heavens this is not about my job. Tricky question none-the-less. Might as well do this in list format. Things are always better with bullet points.
- I do reading.
- I do book clubbing.
- I do Target (WAY too much).
- I do cooking.
- I do puppy loving.
- I do photographing everything I see.
- I do open windows and closed doors.
- I do creating.
- I do Pinteresting (and thinking I will make everything I pin).
- I do traveling.
- I do biking.
- I do IKEA (and boyyyy do I do IKEA!!!).
- I do requesting Miley Cyrus at every wedding I’m at.
- I do treating my friends like family.
- I do my own style and some people don’t get it but I’m a fan.
- I do reading every comment from my readers and loving all of you and your kind words!
I do NOT think I did this right but I just…I mean…really. I like it.
A Blogger I Adore
The challenge for #BlogEveryDayInMay for today was picking a blogger you adore. Once again I was stumped but there was one that came to mind right away. Honestly, I have become so inspired by so many blogs and there are some absolutely incredible ladies out there that have pushed me to work harder for my dreams and they don’t even realize it.
As I searched my BlogLovin feed to pick a blogger I adore I kept coming back to Katie, who I thought of from the get go.
You probably have seen her pin on every big blog around blogland. Katie is the sweetest girl there is. I discovered her blog after clicking on her button from another blog she was sponsoring back in late 2012 sometime. It was shortly after I re-started up my blog and changed it to the name Read, Eat, Create. I sponsored her the first month I started branching out into sponsoring and not only did she help me drive traffic to my poor little blog, she commented on it too! She had a ton more followers than me so this was a big big deal!
Anyways, I instantly fell in love with her. Her husband and her are the cutest (they started dating when she was 15!!). They had infertility struggles in the past but are pregnant with their first child now and due this summer! I’m so happy for them! She’s a teacher by day and blogger by night. Katie is just really intelligent, kind hearted and amazing at crafts for her new little girls room! I swear when I’m pregnant, there won’t be any DIY’s happening. More like couch sitting and ice cream eating!
I’ve always had so much respect for this girl. She keeps it real (and her outfits are ones I could actually afford!) and doesn’t fluff up her blog with only the glamorous stuff! She really care about her readers and has such terrific content over there!
So, that’s my love shared with all of you for another blogger! There’s so many wonderful ladies out there but I chose you Katie! Thanks for being my friend and sharing so much with this blogworld
A New Day
Day 4 (which was yesterday…yes I missed it again. Surprised?) of #BlogEveryDayInMay (or every other day for me it’s turning out) was not an easy one for me. I knew it wouldn’t be right when I saw the topic: favorite quote. When I was in high school and college and probably even before then, I would collect quotes. I recently stumbled upon my high school box of stuff and found notebooks and journals PACKED with quotes and beautiful words strung together with a period. Thankfully I now have Pinterest to thank for being able to keep all those lovely words in one place now but my “favorite quote” changes almost weekly. I am always looking for words to live by and a different frame of mind to put things into perspective. This one has been one of my favorites for a very long time though and one I try to live by every day.
Why do I love it? It’s so simple yet something that can be forgotten so easily. It’s too easy to wake up thinking about all the stuff from the day before or why you were upset with whomever about whatever. Waking up every day with a new frame of mind and thinking to yourself “I’m not going to worry about what happened yesterday” makes the days so much more enjoyable. It also is healthier for you to not carry all the stress of the day before on your shoulders. But more importantly, starting the day off with a positive attitude makes it so much more enjoyable for people around you. By smiling and having a good attitude, it could rub off on someone who might be carrying a lot of stress or worry on their shoulders. And isn’t that what God placed us here on earth to do? Help each other out? It seems to me that when I’m in a good mood, everyone else is a little cherrier too!
Do you have a favorite quote? I would LOVE to hear it!
Party Like a Rockstar…In Your Car

Yesterday for #BlogEveryDayInMay, the topic was educate us on something you know alot about or are good at. When I first read that this was going to be a topic, I had no idea what I was going to write about. I’m kind of a jack of all traders. Not an expert at one thing, but so-so at a little of everything. I was driving home from work last night jamming out to Avril Lavigne and thinking about what I was going to discuss. It hit me then that it was so obvious. I am going to write about how to party like a rockstar in your car! I have been doing this since I got my license at age 17 and I have definitely become an expert in my day. So today my dear friends, you may think you know how to rock it our in your car to some great jams, but I’m going to teach you how to do it the right way.
1. Make sure you have your hair down so you can get the full effect.
2. Take the top off your car (if you can) and roll the windows down.
3. Throw your sunnies on.
4. Have a couple pre-game songs to get you in the mood to dance and warm up those vocal chords of yours.
5. Then when that special song comes on, turn up the music so you can’t hear yourself think.
6. Bob your head.
7. Tap the wheel with your hand.
8. When the chorus comes on of the first song, this is your cue. Anything after that is game time. Belt it out and sing it proud!
Suggestions for some terrific songs to get your party on in the car are Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi, Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus, The Boys Of Summer by Don Henley, Riding Solo by Jason Derulo.
*Note: You will likely get strange looks from others passing by. Don’t be embarrassed; embrace it. They are only jealous of your jamming out skills.
I was still in training here. Clearly. There isn’t enough hair flipping and the shades are on top of the head, not over the eyes.

And Then I’m All Squeemish
I know I missed yesterday’s link up and I promise it will be up tonight (it’s a REALLY good one) but day three of Jenni‘s #BlogEveryDayInMay challenge is things that make you uncomfortable. I didn’t think that very many things made me uncomfortable until I started thinking about them. These are super random and I probably thought about them a little too much since they are so specific but here it is…
-The dentist asking me questions (and expecting me to answer) while he’s poking and prodding away in my mouth…can you tell I was just at the dentist yesterday?
-Really crowded elevators…I’ve never been a big fan of elevators but they are the main means of transportation at work seeing as their are 6 floors and more elevators than doors! I’m on them a lot and they are always crowded. Which means always uncomfortable.
-Driving next to a semi truck…I always get super nervous that the moment I drive by is going to be the moment the semi looses a tire and falls on top of me.
-PUBLIC SPEAKING…for a communiations major, this one bites the big one!
-People that are way too happy everyday…doesn’t it just get exhausting?
-People who put their chewed gum on the rim of a cup for later…the second picture comes into play a lot with this one!
-Men who wear flip flops…just awkward looking.
What makes you uncomfortable? Come back tonight to hear about something I am really good at. I promise it will be worth your time!
1986 // Story Of My Life
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in August of ’86. My younger sister and I were the type who argued over clothes and got on eachothers nerves but I wouldn’t want anyone else to do it with. I’m so grateful we’ve become so much closer over the last two years. I met my husband when I was in kindergarten at a Lutheran school but transferred to public school when I was in 7th grade. I played many sports in school but none of them stuck except for tennis. Throughout high school I worked at Domino’s Pizza, Boston Store, Summerfest, and I taught tennis lessons in the summer, was a picture taker in the middle of the mall for when Santa and the Easter Bunny came and babysat. I’m sure I’m missing one or two others in there. I met my best friend while working in the men’s underwear department. I’ve only had two boyfriends in my life. The first boyfriend and I split up one week before my 21st birthday and a week later my grandpa passed away. After that I wasn’t interested in getting married…until Mr. C. came along. I had the best college freshman roommate one could ask for. We vowed to be friends forever when we graduated in 2008. I’ve only seen her once since we graduated and I still never found out why we lost touch. I married my husband in February of 2012 and the rest is history so far! Even though I’ve been through some crazy things, this has been a beautiful ride and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me down the road!
Why the short story of my life? My friend Jenni is hosting a #BlogEveryDayInMay link up! It’s my first link up I’ve ever done so I hope I can stay consistent with it! She has picked a topic for every day of the month so it’s easy if you don’t have anything else to blog about…won’t you join us? It’s bound to be a great time!
That Kind Of Weekend
Oh it was the best of times I have to say…
This weekend I got to see a lot of my favorite people and do a lot of my favorite things. It was one of those kind of weekends that you want to bottle up and save for a rainy day when there is too much laundry to do.
Friday night I went out with a few people I don’t see nearly often enough! It started out as a casual grab a few drinks kind of night.
But then the bartender kept coming back and they turned on 90′s and early 2000′s music and it turned into this…
If I was being honest I wish I could do this every weekend. With these exact same people. It was the best time ever. Clearly. I don’t grind my butt up on just anyone you know. She has to be someone special. Someone who has thrown up on my parents carpet on my 21st birthday. That kind of special. For those of you that have no clue what I’m talking about, that’s another story for another day. Not anytime soon though!
Saturday was spent doing a couple errands, finding the CUTEST mothers and fathers day cards (sorry I can’t show you them though because my dad reads my blog…hi dad!!), and getting laundry done, the house and dishes cleaned, and the rooms cleaned up by noon. Oh it was bliss. I spent the rest of the afternoon on the patio writing goals in this new journal I got. I also busted out my other two prettiest notebooks. One for blog ideas and the other for life/goals/don’t forget about ideas. I have notebooks for everything it seems! I’m ADDICTED to cute notebooks!
That night we went out with a bunch of friends riding on the motorcycles. It was just one of those nights where anything else seemed like a bad idea. Ended the night with a stop at a local bar with live music and a bonfire back at our place with cigars. And of course I have no pictures to show for it.
Sunday was bliss too. Mr. C. made me an amazing breakfast of stuffed french toast with strawberries. We did a little yard work, I visited my grandma and picked up Jack and Mr. C. from my in-laws place where they were there brewing beer (Mr. C.) and playing (Jack). Mr. C. spent a good chuck of the day working on his newest project. He was so giddy about it it was ridiculous. I’ll be sharing more about this later on in the week but here’s our latest addition to our house.
I hope I don’t kill them like I accidentally killed my roommate’s fish…
Please get here soon weekend! I have very good plans for you!
Home Sweet Home
I’m spending the day on multiple airplanes again so I’ll catch you on the flip side. Stay tuned for all the picture I’ll be posting of our trip!
