I’ve been wanting to jazz things up a bit lately. Do you ever feel that way? Our house has looked the same when it comes to decor since last spring (April or Mayish).
We used money from our wedding to redo the entire living room and dining room and let me tell you that was a long time coming. When we first bought our house, the stuff that came together was a total hodge podge from our lives prior to each other. Mr. C. had two couches he bought from his old roommate that we threw slip covers over because they were not by any means attractive and one of those monstrous (cross off) terrific tube TV’s that weighed more than me and needed the antenna adjusted every five minutes to get good reception. The best part about that was two months into us moving in together, we lost the remote so the only way to change the channel or volume or turn it off/on was to walk up to it and do it on the dial. We are all spoiled these days because let me tell you, it was torture to the point that we would bribe each other to change the channel. We had an overstuffed leather chair I found at a rummage sale, end tables in the living room from my college days, and hardly anything hanging on the walls.
So when we went to IKEA (oh yes, best place on earth) to redo our living room and dining room, I wanted to do it the right way. We spent a sick amount of money and time there but I love how it turned out. I like more modern looks when it comes to home decorating and I feel like it’s exactly how I was envisioning. Lately though, I’ve felt like it looks blah. Probably because it’s been the same for a while now. It needs some jazzing up.
ESPECIALLY on the walls. Ever since I moved into our house, I’ve been cautious about what I put on the walls because if I don’t like how it looks, there’s going to be another hole there that I’ll eventually have to patch up. And let me tell you, there are enough holes in the walls that I really don’t want extra added to the list.
I’m trying to put together a plan for how I want things to look. That way when I head off to IKEA again with cash in tow, I don’t end up blowing it on anymore throw pillows or blankets. Lord knows that couch wouldn’t be able to house another throw pillow if it tried. Here’s where a little of my inspiration is coming from.

I love that photo wall! And I love IKEA…but that store is so freaking dangerous! Have fun with all of the decorating!!
