Off the Record

I have a confession to make.  It’s about my 250 Challenge back in October.  Do you remember that post?  It was about the 250 recipes I wrote down and was going to make in 2012 to push me to cook more since I came up with this new blog.  It turns out that I didn’t need any pushing to start cooking more.  I didn’t finish the challenge (mostly because the recipes I wrote down were almost all main courses and who can make and eat 250 main courses in 2 months?!?!).  In fact, I purposely veered away from the challenge because there were so many other yummy recipes that kept popping up during the holidays that I wanted to make instead.

Even though I didn’t achieve this goal, it sure has pushed me to cook a lot more and I can promise you I will still be making everything in that little notebook of mine that I vowed to make. I’ll post all the recipes on here from the 250 Challenge too. I’m just not going to hold myself accountable for only those recipes.

It seems like since following a lot more food blogs and even sponsoring one of my favorites, I’ve found more creativity in the kitchen in the last two and a half months. I’m loving that I can run to the grocery store and pick something up and just come home and make it instead of psyching myself out for making something and making this big project out of it. It doesn’t need to be a project. It just needs to be.

If you would have told me a year ago that I would have a new love for cooking and a blog where I take pictures of food and post recipes, I would have laughed in your face. I never was a good cook, despite my mom trying and trying to teach me. But here I finally am, cooking up a storm and loving that I get to share it all with you right here.

Here’s to 2013 and new kitchen adventures!
